Can I appeal a deportation order?

You may have a right of appeal. If you hold a residence class visa and are served with a deportation liability notice, the Immigration Act 2009 allows you to appeal to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal on humanitarian grounds, meaning that there are exceptional circumstances of a humanitarian nature that would make it unjust or unduly harsh for you to be deported and that it would not be contrary to the public interest to allow you to remain. The Tribunal considers factors such as the length of your residence, family ties, the best interests of your children and the seriousness of the offending. The appeal time limit is very short, usually a matter of weeks from service of the notice, so contact an immigration lawyer immediately.
